Kansas City PBS' main building.

Kansas City PBS is thrilled to announce a major upgrade to our broadcast technology. We're replacing our aging transmitter with a new, state-of-the-art system that will provide a stronger, more reliable signal for the next 25 years. This is a foundational investment in our future, ensuring we can continue to deliver the programs and services you love for decades to come.

This massive project was made possible by the incredible support of our community through a multi-year capital campaign. This upgrade is a testament to your generosity and our shared commitment to keeping public media strong in Kansas City.

Important Service Update

We expect the work to be completed by mid-November, though timelines may shift due to weather conditions, which play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our crew. While we’re taking every precaution to make the transition as seamless as possible, there may be brief, intermittent service disruptions throughout the month as we carry out this essential work.

We know how much you rely on our channels, and we appreciate your patience as we make this essential improvement. This short-term disruption makes way for a long-term benefit; a more stable and dependable signal for everyone.

Will this affect my TV service?

A temporary service disruption is possible through mid-November as we complete this critical work. While we're taking every precaution to ensure a smooth transition, we appreciate your patience if you experience any issues. This short-term disruption is for a long-term benefit: a more stable and dependable signal for everyone.

How was this project funded?

This project was made possible by a successful capital campaign, which was a planned and executed initiative to support building renovations and significant technology upgrades.

Does this mean Kansas City PBS no longer needs my support?

No, your support is more crucial than ever. While this capital investment is a critical step in sustaining our broadcast service, we continue to rely on the generosity of our community to stay on-air and provide the content that enriches our region.
