Kansas City PBS announces three upcoming Week in Review specials, including debates with candidates running for Jackson County Prosecutor, Johnson County District Attorney and Kansas' 3rd Congressional District.
“It is our responsibility as a public media organization to prepare our communities for the voting booth with timely, accurate and nonpartisan election coverage,” said Kliff Kuehl, Kansas City PBS president and CEO.

Justice on the Ballot: A Week in Review Special
Friday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m.
Tune in for two debates between the candidates seeking to be the next Jackson County Prosecutor and Johnson County District Attorney. In partnership with the Johnson County Bar Association, Nick Haines hosts a lively exchange with Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe and his Democratic opponent Vanessa Riebli. Haines will also moderate a debate between Jackson County Prosecutor candidates Melesa Johnson (D) and Tracey Chappell (R).
On the Ballot: A Week in Review Special
Friday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m.
See a detailed breakdown of the Missouri initiatives set to grace the Nov. 5 general election ballot. From the minimum wage to abortion access, Nick Haines explores the ballot language and discusses the impact of each measure.
Kansas 3rd Congressional District Debate
Friday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m.
The Kansas' 3rd Congressional District has been represented by Democrat Sharice Davids since 2018, but her Republican opponent Prasanth Reddy, a cancer researcher and oncologist from Lenexa, looks to unseat the two-term congresswoman. In partnership with the Johnson County Post and KCUR, Kansas City PBS will host a debate between the two candidates with moderator Nick Haines.
Kansas City Voter Guide
The 2024 KC Voter Guide is a collaborative effort between Kansas City’s major newsrooms and nonprofit media organizations to provide comprehensive, accessible coverage of over 100 local, state and federal races across five counties in Kansas and Missouri. Available in both English and Spanish, the guide offers balanced reporting, concise candidate profiles and voting resources to help residents make informed decisions at the polls.
