Flatland in Focus host D. Rashaan Gilmore

After three successful years of Flatland in Focus, our talented host, D. Rashaan Gilmore, has decided to step down. Rashaan's contributions to Flatland’s newsroom have been instrumental, and we are grateful for his dedication to local solutions-based journalism. His engaging interview style and infectious energy have left a lasting impact on our audience, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

“Rashaan’s incredible talent and unmatched charisma have been a cornerstone of the success of Flatland in Focus. While we will miss his presence on our screens, we are excited to see the amazing journey he takes on next,” said Kliff Kuehl, Kansas City PBS president and CEO.

Season 3 of Flatland in Focus will mark the final season of the roundtable discussion series. As a local nonprofit news source powered by Kansas City PBS, Flatland will now prioritize compelling short-form, digital-first video series that align with the publication’s new content strategy. These video series will cover key topics like housing, healthcare and education,  reflecting a commitment to addressing regional challenges and promoting solutions for social equity.

We recognize the growing demand for shorter, more dynamic video series and are excited to explore this format to better serve our viewers. Explore how Flatland is reshaping and enhancing its content here. Read Rashaan's farewell statement below.
