Kansas City, MO— In anticipation of the historic September 30th recall election of Jackson County Executive Frank White, the Kansas City Public Library and Kansas City PBS are partnering to host a special community town hall, "A Frank Decision," on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Kansas City Plaza Library.
"Part of our mission at Kansas City PBS is to serve as an essential source for independent journalism and a platform for all voices,” said Kansas City PBS President and CEO Kliff Kuehl. “We are proud to partner with the Kansas City Public Library to bring this vital town hall to the community, upholding our commitment to creating space for public forum."
The event, moderated by Kansas City PBS' “Week In Review” host Nick Haines, will bring together Jackson County Legislators Megan Marshall and Sean Smith, Gwen Grant, CEO of the Urban League of Greater Kansas City, and Greg Vonnahme, Political Scientist at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). Jackson County Executive Frank White, or a chosen surrogate, has also been invited to join this important community conversation.
"This is a moment of historic importance for Jackson County, and it is vital that our community has access to a balanced, informative discussion about the issues and consequences of this recall election," said Nick Haines. "By bringing together a cross-section of leaders and experts, we aim to provide the public with the facts they need to make an informed decision at the ballot box."
For those unable to attend in person, the event will be livestreamed on the Kansas City PBS YouTube channel. It will also be televised as part of an hour-long election edition of the long-running Kansas City PBS public affairs program, “Week in Review” on Friday, September 19 at 7 p.m. Audiences can also stream on-demand on the PBS app.
