I’m honored to join the staff of KCPT, 90.9 The Bridge and Flatland. The events and volunteer coordinator position is an ideal opportunity to merge my professional background in broadcast media and event management with my interest in civic engagement. I’ll be coordinating all of the events and activities for each of our brands, in addition to our volunteer teams.
One of the goals in moving this position to full time is to ensure we’re communicating internally to utilize the full resources and promotional capabilities of each brand to support each other’s efforts. We have an opportunity to position KCPT, 90.9 The Bridge and Flatland as an event marketing leader while codifying the connection between the three brands in the minds of Kansas Citians.
One duty I’m most excited about is supporting the dedicated volunteer staff of KCPT and The Bridge as they serve as public media ambassadors in the community at large. I rely on KCPT to help me be a more informed citizen and challenge my thinking on the difficult issues we face in our community. As a mom of two preschoolers, I watch a lot of PBS Kids, and I’m grateful for the project ideas and parenting guidance I find there. 90.9 The Bridge provides the soundtrack to my life; the list of bands and songwriters I’ve discovered on The Bridge over the years is too long to count. And flatlandkc.org has quickly become my landing page for local stories that dig a little deeper — I love discovering new things about Kansas City, after living here for nearly two decades!
My life is fuller thanks to the hard work of the staff I now call co-workers, and I look forward to getting to know the volunteers and members who make this work possible. Thank you for a warm welcome to the family!
