Meet Nick Haines

Nick has headed up the public affairs division of Kansas City PBS since 1999.  He is best known as the host of the weekly primetime public affairs program, Kansas City Week in Review. His work has been recognized with five regional Emmy Awards.  In May 2025, he was named Best News Anchor by the Missouri Broadcasters Association.

Nick is a former BBC news reporter. He was born and raised in Port Talbot, a South Wales steel town that also produced actors Richard Burton, Anthony Hopkins and Michael Sheen.

Prior to joining Kansas City PBS, Nick served as news director for KANU, the NPR affiliate in Lawrence, KS and was Statehouse Bureau Chief for Kansas Public Radio in Topeka.
