PLAYBACK: 20 Years of Music Discovery
In 2021, 90.9 The Bridge celebrates its 20th anniversary with PLAYBACK: 20 Years of Music Discovery, a half-hour special featuring local artists performing a collection of cover songs that were all originally released in 2001, the year The Bridge went live. The special features live performances and interviews with local artists such as Katy Guillen and the Drive, Making Movies and Calvin Arsenia, who will take the stage and share the influence of local radio, and the Kansas City music community on their careers.
Kansas City PBS acquired the Triple-A (adult album alternative) radio station in 2013 through an agreement with the University of Central Missouri, spearheaded by Kansas City PBS CEO and President Kliff Kuehl. KTBG 90.9, better known as The Bridge, moved the 60-some miles from Warrensburg to Kansas City. With a broader reach and more centralized location in the local music scene, the station has reached even more audiences with its passion for local music, community and independent voices.
