Kansas City PBS' Studio A

Kansas City PBS supports the Kansas City Metro and beyond with quality digital and broadcast programming highlighting arts, culture, history, science, and nature. This content is created in a newly renovated headquarters located in the heart of midtown Kansas City. The station has faithfully served the community for more than half a century with TV Studio A serving as a creative hub for content production. As the broadcast television landscape has evolved, the studio has remained largely unchanged as it continued to provide the necessary infrastructure to support station staff. As we enter 2024 and recently performed an audit of our workspaces following a major building renovation, we identified the following technological and equipment needs to advance our services and continue to support our audiences in the face of an ever-changing industry of content production.

Kansas City PBS is looking for a contractor to support the following upgrades/equipment replacements. This support will include integration design, equipment sourcing, commissioning and training (as applicable). Comprehensive equipment list can be found in Appendix A of the full RFP

  • Camera Chain Replacement
  • Remote Production Upgrades (LiveU, Catch Server, Bridge Server)
  • Studio Camera Replacement- (Cameras x5, Robotic Pedestal x5, Prompter Hood)
  • Studio Technology Upgrades- (Cue Script, Playout Server)

The purpose of this RFP is to gain access to competitive quotes to ensure grant funding is spent responsibly and supports the full project scope. Potential vendors will be required to provide a comprehensive design build for upgrades listed above, equipment sourcing and project management and training throughout the implementation process to ensure a smooth integration of new technology and hardware.

Vendors will need expertise in broadcast and remote television technology solutions and Camera Systems and will be able to provide support from engineers, project managers, service technicians, and training staff.
