Kansas City PBS is thrilled to present En La Sala, a new hour-long concert special that blends classic rock, Latin American rhythms and African-derived percussion into an intimate live musical experience. En La Sala premieres on Thursday, March 28, at 8 p.m. on Kansas City PBS Channel 19.1.

"Making Movies is a stellar rock band that always delivers an amazing show,” said Kliff Kuehl, President and CEO of Kansas City PBS. “We are excited to present this one-of-a-kind concert experience to our audience.”

Spanish for "in the living room," En La Sala was filmed during a surprise show at the Folly Theater in downtown Kansas City. The concert includes performances from Making Movies and special guest Asdru Sierra of the Grammy Award-winning band Ozomatli.

"There's always little elements of surprise, little magical moments that only arise in a live setting,” said Enrique Chi, Making Movies' lead singer. "Filming En La Sala is the first time we have slowed down to really capture that magic."

The international rock band will bring that same magic to Kansas City PBS’ living room on March 29 for a sold-out performance featuring an exclusive conversation with the band members, including vocalist Enrique Chi, bassist Diego Chi, percussionist Juan-Carlos Chaurand and drummer Duncan Burnett.

En La Sala was produced by AMERI’KANA, a production house created by Making Movies to highlight the talent of Black and brown musicians and benefit Making Movies' youth nonprofit organization, Art as Mentorship
