Google Fiber has announced it will be ending traditional TV services for Kansas City beginning February 2022, affecting some Kansas City PBS viewers. It’s part of a larger move to sunset Google Fiber TV across the country and shift toward streaming.

Kansas City PBS viewers who are Google Fiber TV customers will receive a notification at least 90 days before discontinuation of services to ensure ample time in finding a new provider.

While Google may be "cutting the cord" and ending traditional TV service in favor of focusing on high-speed internet and streaming, they’re offering current customers a free route to upgrade to the streaming service Chromecast. With Chromecast equipment, you can sign up for streaming services like YouTube TV, fuboTV, Sling or Philo. Customers who do not upgrade to Chromecast will permanently lose access to Google Fiber TV in April 2022.

Ways to Watch

As always, there are many ways to watch your favorite shows on Kansas City PBS. Channel 19.1, Channel 19.2, Create and PBS Kids are all available on-air through antenna and cable, with 19.1 and PBS Kids also available to stream online. The PBS Video App available online and on platforms such as Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV lets you stream your favorite shows on-demand.
