Producing for Kansas City PBS

Kansas City PBS collaborates with local partners to tell authentic community stories and deliver content that reflects the diversity of our audiences. We welcome submissions for original content concepts or licensing opportunities that highlight local culture, arts or history.

Greenlight Process

Once a project is submitted for consideration, it is reviewed by the Kansas City PBS Greenlight Committee, an internal team of key stakeholders.

Due to recent federal funding cuts, we have scaled back the frequency of these greenlight meetings. Materials are now reviewed on a rolling basis and invitations to meet with the Greenlight Committee are extended if there is serious interest in a project. Pitches are evaluated using a standardized scoring rubric.

We fundraise on a per-project basis. Projects that come with partial or full funding attached are more likely to be considered for production.

We welcome non-fiction project ideas across formats, including:

  • Digital short series
  • Social media series
  • Long- and short-form documentaries
  • Licensing opportunities for local content

Whether you're developing a new idea, refining a work in progress, or seeking distribution for a finished piece, we’d love to hear from you.
