Submit Your Film to the 2027 Reel Black Film Fest

  • Submissions Due by Nov. 1, 2026
  • Non-fiction films with a Black community angle produced or directed by a Black filmmaker with Midwest ties
  • Short films 10 minutes or less and feature films 30 - 60 minutes in length
  • Films created within the last 3 years and fully picture-locked by the submission date
  • Films not previously broadcast on-air in any region

Make Your Art the Face of the Reel Black Film Fest

We invite Black artists from across the U.S. to submit original artwork inspired by film, Black culture, creativity and community. The selected design may be featured on official festival posters, apparel, promotional materials and more!

Join Kansas City PBS in honoring the vibrant culture, history and creativity of Black Kansas City through the power of film.

This year’s festival will feature non-fiction shorts and features, filmmaker Q&As, the announcement of awards and more. Additional details will be announced soon.
